Short description
Straddling the borders of three distinct regions – Lombardy, Trentino Alto-Adige and the Veneto – Lake Garda attracts a variety of visitors. For warm weather cyclists, pedal eastwards and explore the beautiful Veneto. From the shorelines of Italy’s largest lake to the medieval town of Verona and summit of Monte Baldo (2,243m), this tour encapsulates a corner of Italy similar in feel to the Mediterranean. The uniquely mild microclimate has sculpted a landscape of rolling vineyards, olive groves and citrus orchards, and a cuisine rooted in organic local produce and excellent wine.
The itinerary
Day 1: Arrive to Garda
We recommend a morning flight. After arriving you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel on Lake Garda. You will have time to build your bike (or pick up your hire bike) and grab some lunch. In the afternoon you will have time for a warm up ride, up the climb of the Peri-Fosse. A little climb (10km in length) close to the lake that gives an amazing perspective of where you are.
Day 2: Valpolicella and Verona
This ride loops away from the lake, climbing steadily for the 20km or so before you climb up to the high point for the day at Marano di Valpolicella. From here there is a great descent to the historial city of Verona. We recommend grabbing a bite of lunch to eat and to take some time to explore Verona, before returning to Garda via the back roads, through vineyards and farm country.
Day 3: Monte Baldo
The Monte Baldo is the most famous climb in the area and towers above the lake at 2243m above sea level. Today’s ride takes you the full length of the Eastern side of Lake Garda, and the climb of Monte Baldo offers excellent views over Lake Garda. This is one of those rides where it is all sweat in the morning and all freewheeling in the afternoon. From the top of Monte Baldo, it is downhill all the way to your Hotel.
Day 4: Departure day and Torri-Albisano
There is time for one final ride. The tour of Torri Albisano before we transfer you back to the airport. We recommend you get an afternoon or evening flight. If you want to extend this trip, this is possible.
